Every waking minute, we are bombarded with information, data, analysis and answers to questions we didn't even ask. It's no different for the people we are trying to communicate with, whether they're friends, family, customers, colleagues or hiring managers. The most effective way to cut through the clutter and connect with people is through stories -- the same way people have absorbed information and felt compelled to pass it on since the beginning of time. In this crash course, we'll look at "storytelling" as more than a corporate buzzword and talk about the practical ways to connect with people and inspire them to act.

Randy Ford works with nonprofits, small businesses and the public sector to incorporate storytelling components into how they talk about what they do and who they help. He founded First Story Strategies in 2016 after decades of work in journalism, politics and public affairs. He has also appeared in storytelling shows across Chicago, including Story Lab, Story Sessions and The People Tree.
