Event Description:
Join the LGBT Chamber of Commerce of Illinois in our annual Celebration of Black Business Excellence. This event will recognize Black LGBTQ+ Business owners and their business success. They will share insight and reflections from their journey. 

Come together with us to celebrate these business owners and to recognize their achievements.

Speaker Bio's
State Rep. Lamont J. Robinson Jr. is a lifelong Chicagoan who has dedicated his life to giving back to the city through public service and as a businessman, college professor, and director of a youth mentorship. A resident of Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood, Rep. Robinson was elected in the November 2018 general election. With an undergraduate degree in business marketing from Clark Atlanta University and an MBA degree from National Louis University, Rep. Robinson became a licensed insurance agent and owner of The Robinson & Caban Insurance Group. He also was a business professor at Harold Washington College and Director of the Kappa Leadership Institute in Chicago, which provides guidance to young men and prepares them to go to college.  He made history as the first out LGBTQ African-American to be elected to the Illinois General Assembly.


Mary Morten is the President of Morten Group (MG), a national consulting firm that celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2021, focusing on clients in the nonprofit, for profit, and foundation fields. Morten Group is comprised of a multiracial, cross-generational group of professionals—an intentional component of their business model. The firm focuses on diversity, racial equity and inclusion, executive placements, research and organizational development. Mary recently launched her own podcast on non profits, foundations and
equity and inclusion topics. “Gathering Ground” can be found on itunes, Spotify and wherever you find your podcasts.
